Two Small Town Trailer Boys Who Built Something Real
Sunrise Moving & Packing started in 2021, when brothers Josh and I decided the moving industry needed to work differently.
It started with a favor. Our brother down in Texas needed help moving and booked it through U-Haul. Watching that experience up close, we saw the gap plainly: the industry was full of inconsistency, and reliability was treated like a bonus instead of the baseline.
We knew the business firsthand. Both of us had worked for a big-name moving company before, so we understood what the industry got wrong, and what it would take to do it right. At the time, I was selling insurance and had just had my second daughter. Money was tight, and we were both looking for something more.
So we booked our first job. Then another. Referrals started coming in. Five-star reviews became the norm, not the exception. And at a certain point, the side project stopped being a side project. We went all in.
Where We Started
Josh and I grew up in a small town, and we grew up fast. We lost both our parents when we were ten years old. Whatever we’ve built since then, we built it ourselves, and we built it together.
That’s part of why reliability matters so much to us. We know what it means to depend on people, and we know what it means when they show up. Every crew member who wears the Sunrise shirt understands that showing up is not optional. It’s the whole business.
Four Years Later
What started as one truck and one job through U-Haul has grown into a company with 40+ trucks and 3 locations, serving families and businesses across five states.
We’re proud of the growth, but we haven’t lost sight of why we started. Every move still gets the same standard: trained crews, transparent pricing, and the kind of care we’d want for our own family’s belongings. Not a subcontracted crew. Not a rotating cast of strangers. Sunrise, every time.
